Sarah "Kay" Shields (Mabry), 85, of Aurora, Illinois, went home to the Lord on June 3, 2024.
She was born in Dallas, Texas in 1938 to Dick and Sally Mabry before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Kay graduated from Albuquerque High School before entering the workforce, where she met her husband, Marvin. They married in 1961 and loved each other for 61 years of marriage. Kay went on to have a fulfilling career in social work, where she was honored for more than ten years of service. She was known for her kindness and deep love for her family.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents Dick and Sally and her husband Marvin. She is survived by daughters Cara Shields and Lisa Knight, grandchildren Nicole Merriman, Joshua Merriman (Dialah Azam), Trevor Knight, and Tyler Knight, sister Dixie Holloway (Howard), and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin a
