Billy R. Johnston, 89, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:00 pm June 18, 2024 at Green Tree Assisted Living in Mount Vernon. He was born July 23, 1934 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late James Warner and Helen (Fisher) Johnston. Billy married Janet (Grissom) Johnston on November 25, 1952. They were blessed with nearly sixty-seven years of marriage before she preceded him in death on October 21, 2019.
Billy is survived by his sons, Michael Johnston and wife, Cindy of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Scott Johnston and special friend, Carla of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Kaitlin Church and husband, Cody of Carterville, Illinois, Matt Johnston of Dahlgren, Illinois, Mallory Johnston and Kim Tate of Mount Vernon, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Anson Johnston of Carterville, Illinois, Riley Faye Johnston of Dahlgren, Illinois; and Rance Church of Carterville, Illinois; brother, Larry Johnston and wife, Laura of Mount Vernon; sister, Linda Geary and husband, Bob of Henderson
