James Wendell Harris, 96, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 8:17 pm on January 28, 2025 at Stonebridge Memory Care in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born September 8, 1928 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Cyril Harris and Mabel (Harlow) Harris. James married Virginia Fern (Anderson) Harris on November 10, 1950 at her parents' home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
In addition to his beloved wife of 74 years, James is survived by his son, Devan "Dumpy" Harris and wife, Reta of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Christine Harris of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; grandson Eric Harris and wife, Autumn of Mount Vernon, Illinois; great-grandchildren Samantha, Alexis, Isabel, Mackynze and Colton Harris of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and sister, Virgene Pearce of Mount Vernon, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and numerous sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
