Janet M. Sandy, 75, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 4:43 am March 16, 2025 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born March 23, 1949 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Walter and Anneta R. (Decker) Hayes. Janet married Jerry W. Sandy on August 21, 1967 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with forty-two years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 24, 2009.
Janet is survived by her sons, Terry Sandy of McLeansboro, Illinois, Jerry Sandy, Jr. and wife, Michelle of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Jeremy Sandy of Mount Vernon; daughter, Tracey Barkau and special friend, Mike Barkau; grandchildren, Amber Talley and husband, Matt, Carissa Pigg and husband, Warren, Johnny Thomas II, Tressa Thomas, Jonathan Thomas, Damien Thomas, Tiffany Sandy, Trevor Sandy, and J.J. Sandy; great-grandchildren, Tempa Talley, Jerika Talley, Adelia Talley, Zoe Davis, Jacob Pigg, Allison Pigg, Colton Sandy, and Summer Smith; brother, Gary Hayes and wife
